The Church occupies a prominent position in the centre of Batley, overlooking the Market Place.

The present building was opened in 1870, replacing a smaller chapel on the same site (a plot of land which was originally purchased in 1853 for the price of £522 19s 0d.)

The original Chapel was capable of seating 600 worshippers.

The new Chapel was designed to accommodate over 1200, and on its opening day, tea was served to over 1000 people.
